Paul Daniels passes away at his home aged 77 after a brief battle with a brain tumor.
Paul Daniels the legend , gentleman and all round nice guy.
Today the nation heard the sad news that magician and water rat Paul Daniels passed away at his home in the south of England.
For me Paul was a nice guy to chat to and on many occasions at the Middlesbrough Circle of Magicians he would offer advice and answer questions regarding his career which was well in excess of 60 Years.
His interest in magic was sparked when he read a book entitled How to Entertain at Parties and he began practicing tricks for his family and friends before performing in local youth clubs.
He joined the Middlesbrough Circle of Magicians at an early age and won many competitions.
From here he performed in working men’s clubs and in theaters before getting his big break on TV with the Paul Daniels Magic Show . This Show lasted from 1979 until 1994. Before this he was a contestant on opportunity knocks and The Wheeltappers and Shunters Social Club .
There will be many tributes to this gentleman over the coming months im sure and i can say I had the pleasure of meeting and talking to him on many occasions and feel honored to have been in his company.
My condolences to his family.
Some Facebook post from fellow magicians and friends.
Gutted to hear the news about Paul Daniels this morning. A real childhood hero and the guy that got me into magic in the first place. My thoughts are with Debbie and family. I was lucky enough to meet Paul and Debbie in person a few times at their various shows and they were so lovely, chatty and encouraging. Gutted. RIP Paul Daniels x
A sad start to the day with the sad news this morning. Paul Daniels was an inspiration to thousands of people. A true entertainer legend. Pleased to have had the pleasure of his company on a few occasions. My thoughts go out to Debbie, Gary, Martin Daniels & his family and friends
Rest In Peace – Paul Daniels
Just heard that Paul past away peacefully at home in the early hours of this morning.
The times I met him he was always very friendly, helpful and a font of advice, As well as being a major player in rejuvenating magic in the 80s and onwards he was a wonderful man.
